Wilhelmina McCarroll

At the creative helm of Zuster is Design Director Wilhelmina McCarroll, a champion of Australian manufacturing and contemporary design. Working for over 17 years with her three sisters, McCarroll has enjoyed the process of developing her design style and sharing her creative talents with her family. “I love working with family because of the deep understanding we have of each other. We share a profound trust and the same goal. When something great happens, it is wonderful that we can enjoy that success together,” says McCarroll.

McCarroll is the daughter of renowned Melbourne craftsman and homebuilder Meyer Sibbel. After completing a Furniture Technology course at RMIT in 1994, McCarroll followed in her father’s footsteps, fusing his Dutch design sensibility with her love of contemporary Australian design. McCarroll’s love of beautiful design, coupled with the business acumen and drive of her sister Fleur Sibbel, lead to the beginning of Zuster in their father’s Thomastown factory. McCarroll‘s creative direction is inspired by her own personal style – clean lines, modern and refined. A pride in crafting quality furniture with perfect proportions and beautiful joinery is what makes each Zuster piece so special.
